3rd Annual River Clean-Up (SAturday Sept. 20th)

9/1/2014

This year, Colusa is gearing up for its 3rd annual river cleanup. The community effort was developed as a result of Premier Mushroom’s desire to align its own sustainability goals with those of the local community. Given Colusa’s close proximity to the Sacramento river, it was decided that this would be where we’d focus our efforts. The state recreation area also has a rich riparian forest that is home to a variety of fish, birds, mammals and other wildlife. It was the perfect intersection of Community, Environment and Business.

Initially, we created the event exclusively for Colusa and its local community. However, as the event neared, we realized it coincided with California’s statewide clean-up. After a quick phone call to the coastal commission, Colusa officially became the 55th of 58 counties to participate in the statewide event. Therefore, the Colusa cleanup would henceforth be part of a much larger volunteer effort taking place all around the globe.

Over the past few years, we’ve attracted a broad range of supportive sponsors within the local business community. This year we’ve got a total of 13. These include; Premier Mushrooms, Steelhead Lodge, Central Valley Gas Storage, Roccos, Body Shop Fitness, Tacos El Amigo, Kittle’s Outdoor and Sport Co., Superior Tire, Hoblit Motors, River Partners and Inked Up & Stitched Out. This growing list is a testament to how much support these community and environmental efforts have in Colusa County

As we continue to expand the clean-up’s scope and reach, the impact continues to grow and new focus areas are discovered. Additionally, the number of volunteers and waste removed has grown tremendously from year to year. We’re anticipating a much larger turnout and our goal is to double numbers from last year.

Day of Event: Saturday September 20th 2014
